In future, the pilots of Austrian Airlines and Lauda Air will be optimally prepared for difficult airports and unfamiliar terrain: Computer-based training programs of Lufthansa Flight Training ( LFT ) are familiarizing the crews of both those Austrian airlines with the world's various airports and environments and their respective features. Captain Christian Korherr, Director Flight Training at Austrian Airlines, explains his choice of LFT: "Our working with LFT really pays off not only qualitatively but also economically. At a modest cost, they permit us to access their software for a large number of airport-familiarization and area-qualification courses." In exchange, the Austrian Airlines Group allows the Lufthansa subsidiary to use the learning stations at its training center in Vienna for other LFT customers.

Lufthansa Flight Training has also been setting architectural standards with its new Lufthansa Flight Training Center. Like our initial and advanced training courses, our training center itself is characterized by structures that are clean and clear and oriented toward the practical. Even in the spacious lobby of the five-story building, whose enormous glass surfaces and bamboo parquet flooring give it a bright friendly look, everything revolves around training. Monitors in the ceiling show in which rooms the various courses are being given, and at terminals one can see at a glance which CBT stations are occupied and which ones are still open.

+ Everything under one Roof
The center houses, the company's headquarters – its administrative and executive offices, all training and service departments, seminar rooms as well as some of its simulators. Additions to it are already planned. By 2005 it will contain more instruction rooms and spaces for simulators. As part of a brand-new seminar concept, it will also house a virtual hospital that will simulate, and enable trainees to practice, complete emergency medical care.
